What would Elias and Seb think of Danny x Adelaide?

Hello hello hello!

Interesting question you have for me. This is about to be a rather long response so buckle up.

In response to this, I'll be writing this as it goes in my universe since it revolves around Elias. Okay, so. Let me start off with a small headcanon I have about Ms. Adelaide Oakes.

Off the bat, during Elias' first week at Hogwarts, Elias and Adelaide become quite cordial with one another. In fact, they seem to get along quite well. Elias thinks Addie (as Evangeline Bradsley calls her) is a sweet girl. She's pretty, joyful, intuitive, and quite smart. Adelaide thinks Elias is smart, handsome, and quite charming (in a gentlemanly way). At the same time, there's the ever popular Sebastian Sallow who is also like Elias but with a more roguish charm. Of course, the general student population would think either Adelaide would choose either Elias the gentleman or Sebastian the rogue.

However, I'd like to think Addie had a hand in pairing the boys together. She is one of the first people Elias confides to (aside from Natty Onai, Poppy Sweeting, and their operation ringleader Anne Sallow) about having affections for Seb. Addie is more than happy to help her friend get his man. Sebastian, however, tries to play it cool and pretend he doesn't feel the same. Given how observant she is (ie. her correspondence with her uncle Rowland and her analysis of his work), Addie sees right through Seb and knows he harbors a big fat gay crush on Elias (Seb is just pining and really really gay here and as a homosexual IRL, I can say that 😂). Needless to say, Addie and the girls scheme to get the boys together and they are successful. Additionally, Elias and Seb also had a hand in freeing Rowland Oakes; and for that, Adelaide is incredibly grateful to the pair for their help.

Now, with regards to Addie being head over heels for a boy named Danny Gibson, Elias and Seb see this as a good opportunity to help Addie. Elias is familiar with his fellow Ravenclaw friend and thinks quite highly of him: determined, smart, kind-hearted. Sebastian views Danny to be a competent and knowledgeable duelist and a gracious opponent, given they've sparred a handful of times at Crossed Wands. Given the good reviews they have of Danny, they'd be more than happy to introduce Danny and Addie to one another. They set up a whole meet-cute at the tea shop in Hogsmeade for them and the rest was just history.

Overall, I think Elias and Seb would have good things to say about Adelaide Oakes and Danny Gibson separately and together. They'd think they're great people as well who deserve each other.

I hope that answers that. I rather enjoyed fleshing out a bit of a headcanon for Adelaide and establishing a relationship with Danny. I hope you enjoyed this, Cato!

Awesome question Cato! And one I’ve actually been considering for story-wise thinking!

I believe Jamie would wave and smile gently while greeting him (as she’s friendly but not highly emotional most the time) and would probably already be holding Ominis’s hand walking towards him while Jade would probably grin as wide as can be and wave frantically before hugging Danny (despite Sebastian’s jealous grumbling in the background lol)

Hi Cato and thank you for your patience since this took me quite a while to answer!

Ellie would definitely relate to Danny's childhood trauma, status as an outcast, and finally feeling accepted by found family. She is very selective about who she shares her history with because she carries a lot of misplaced shame from her childhood/adolescence, so she actively hides and covers up her real past while attending Hogwarts. It would take her many years to be able to open up and be honest with people outside her tiny circle of close NPC friends. But her opinion of Danny would be quite positive, even if they don't become very close while at school.

Whereas Danny comes across aloof and serious to avoid showing his emotions, Ellie masks hers with a teasing sense of humor, which can be irritating to some if she seems as though she can't take things seriously and doesn't care (but she does inside!) and sometimes she can take it too far, even if she doesn't mean to be hurtful. She would apologize if she ever hurt Danny.

Intelligence is a trait she has a lot of respect for, and one which Danny clearly has in spades. However, when paired with his interest in detective work, he might be one to catch onto her more criminal activities so he'd be someone she'd distance from if she fears being caught doing something she shouldn't.

That said, I can see them facing off in Crossed Wands and in Quidditch matches with a casual/friendly rivalry. She's highly competitive and hates losing, but respects a win when it's earned. And we've established before that she would prefer to study HoM with her peers rather than listen to Binns, and she wouldn't take the class after 5th year, but I think they'd develop a rapport in their study sessions with Amit.

And finally, they would end up as coworkers when they both return to Hogwarts as professors. By that point Ellie would start being a bit more open with others and learned to accept more people into her life. Then they could form bonds over their backgrounds, shared traits, and similar interests, and have a respectful and friendly working relationship.

I hope this all makes sense and I'm representing her correctly! Danny seems like a truly great guy <3

Personality: Hellendil is a sweet, outgoing boy who places a high value on friendships and those he cares about. He has a strong desire to help those in need which sometimes leads him to neglect his own needs. He is soft hearted and often finds himself upset when his actions cause emotional or physical harm to someone or something he cares about.
